Scammers - Do They Think That We Are All Stupid ?
I received this "heart tearing" letter in my e-mail this morning, as I imagine many of you have and have the insane desire to break this down for people who may be tempted to fall for this garbage.
Please read the letter and you will find my breakdown and comments at the end of the letter.
Please feel free to add comments and opinions for persons who may be tempted to fall for this crap.
From: Mrs. Marilyn Kurtz.
Beloved.
Greetings to you in the most wonderful name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
His richest blessings shall be upon you forever.
It is by the grace of God that I received Christ, Having known the truth;
I had no choice than to do what is lawful and right in the sight of God for eternal life and in the sight of man for witness of God’s mercy and glory upon my life.
I am Mrs. Marilyn Kurtz, I am 51 years old from Netherlands,
I am deaf and suffering from a long time cancer of the Lungs which also affected my brain,
from all indication my conditions is really deteriorating and it is quite obvious that,
according to my doctors they have advised me that I may not live for the next two months, this is because the cancer stage has gotten to Avery bad stage.
I was brought up from a motherless babies home, was married to my late husband Dr. Dan Kurtz worked with the Chevron/Texaco before he died in the year 2003.
We were married for twenty-nine years without a child. For twenty years without a child.
My husband died in a fatal motor accident. Before his death we were true Christians.
Since his death I decided not to re-marry, when my late husband was alive he deposited the sum of US $18.5M. (Eighteen Million Five Hundred) with a Security Company in the year 2001.
My Dear, this money is still with them and the management just wrote me as the true owner to come forward to receive the money for keeping it so long or rather issue a letter of authorization to somebody to receive it on my behalf since I can not come over because of my illness or they get it confisticated.
Presently, I'm with my laptop in a hospital where I have been undergoing treatment for cancer of the lungs.
I have since lost my ability to talk and my doctors have told me that I have only a few months to live.
It is my last wish to see that this money is invested to any organization of your choice and distributed each year among the charity organization, the poor and the motherless babies home.
I want you God fearing, to also use this money to fund churches, orphanages and widows.
I took this decision, before I rest in peace because my time Will soon be up.
As soon as I receive your reply I shall give you the contact of the Security Company.
I will also issue you a letter of authority that will improve you as the new beneficiary of my fund.
Please assure me that you will act accordingly as I stated here in.I shall wait at your prayerful reply.
Thank you in his precious name
Yours in Christ,
Mrs. Marilyn Kurtz
1. "It is by the grace of God that I received Christ"
This statement seems to be included in many of the scam letters in order to instill
confidence, yet this letters are sent out without checking on any religious beliefs of the persons receiving their mass mailings.
They could be communicating with a Devil Worshiper or Vampire for all they know.
2. "I am deaf and suffering from a long time cancer of the Lungs which also affected my brain".
Gee..Looks pretty coherent to me for having a lung cancer that effects the brain.
Don't think the brain problem is a result of a medical problem.
3. "I was brought up from a motherless babies home"
I assume this means an orphanage and that we now must sympathize and relate to a poor little orphan?
4. " my late husband Dr. Dan Kurtz worked with the Chevron/Texaco ".
This company seems to have a lot of people working for them who have access to millions and even billions of dollars.
Is this why gas and oil prices are so high? :>)
5." We were married for twenty-nine years without a child. For twenty years without a child."
Okay..seems to be a bit of confusion here.
Could this be the brain cancer kicking in?
6."My husband died in a fatal motor accident. Before his death we were true Christians."
Seems to be a LOT of fatal accidents...either car or airplane.
I always assumed that if the accident was fatal..the person died.
Still working on the importance of "true Christian" when someone is running a scam.
Is this suppose to make them more trustworthy?
7. "Since his death I decided not to re-marry, when my late husband was alive he deposited the sum of US $18.5M.
(Eighteen Million Five Hundred) with a Security Company in the year 2001."
That is a VERY valid reason to me to not remarry.
Why would a GOOD CHRISTIAN WOMAN want to remarry when she has all that cash?
And just where did this man get that sum of money to deposit in a security company?
Is Chevron/Texaco really paying that well?
There goes those damn gas prices again
8. "this money is still with them and the management just wrote me as the true owner to come forward to receive the money for keeping it so long or rather issue a letter of authorization to somebody to receive it on my behalf since I can not come over because of my illness or they get it confisticated."
Not having 18 mil laying around in a security company... I am not really very well versed in their operations.
I do intend to contact one or two and ask them if they have a time limit on their deposits.
Somehow I doubt it.... Banks don't..They just keep charging you for their services.
Also, if someone is under extensive medical treatment and they do not have to dip into this money..wouldn't that mean that they have a very substantial amount besides this?
That would also seem that they would have an attorney who would be happy to comply with this and create a trust to administer this fund in the manner that the client desires?.. No???
And to sum it up..this person has lost the ability to speak, hear and now has cancer in "her" brain to the point that "she" will be DEAD in 2 months.
BUT..they have not lost the ability to send out tons of mass mailings and to compile a semi coherent letter.
I think that if people are ignorant enough to be sucked into this type of scam..they are either to be pitied or scorned.
Do a Google on Marilyn Kurtz + scam and see what you find.
If you are ever in doubt about millions or billions of dollars that just seem to good to be true..they are.
When in doubt..it is so easy to check it out.
Please read the letter and you will find my breakdown and comments at the end of the letter.
Please feel free to add comments and opinions for persons who may be tempted to fall for this crap.
But first take a look at this video and think about this doctors ability to diagnose anything!
Just glad he is not my doctor!
Just glad he is not my doctor!
