El Llano ClubRemember..If you are not part of the solution,
You may be part of the problem.
When I first started this, about one month ago, I was only striving for a boxing and sports club as an alternative to drugs.
I have since been given access to an old drug rehab center where I was staff instructor in English some years ago.
Due to government changes, the facility has been abandoned for 7 years.
Now that I have all of this space, I feel that it may be a good idea to include information and possible classes in ecology and environmental issues.
When I came to this area, 25 years ago, it was clean and beautiful.
It has gone steadily down hill and has some very heavy environmental issues which the people are allowing, such as:
- Burning of garbage, plastics and discarded furniture - due to lack of consistent garbage service.
- Huge amounts of garbage dumped at roadside turnouts - due to lack of proper dumping facilities.
- Dead fish and fish waste dumped on the beach creating breeding grounds for massive amounts of flies.
- Estuaries and mangroves being destroyed because of the shrimp hatcheries feeding of Purina Pig Chow.

This issues are the basics and I will need outside help from persons who are more knowledgeable then myself.
I have a strong belief that in teaching the children of the community the damages that are being caused to the environment, health issues and ways of controlling these problems, these problems will not exist in the future.

What I have to offer is the facility and a strong desire to see these problems controlled and cured in an area that I love and remember as paradise.
By creating a gym and boxing facilities for the youth of the area, it is almost a guarantee if a captive audience.

If you have suggestions, resources, funds, or equipment, I will welcome them and also your physical presence.
Sincerely,
Arla Macias
